Is it really free? Yes, and there is no account wall in front of it. If this ever gains a paid tier, anything you have already built stays yours and stays exportable — the app reads and writes plain JSON on purpose.
Windows may warn you about the installer being from an unknown publisher. That is code signing, which costs money this project has not spent yet; it is not a judgement about the file. The portable copy avoids the question entirely, which is another reason it is listed first.
